Windmills
Ever since my second year at senior school windmills have been a passion of mine. A project that won second prize for my year remains a small but proud achievement. I love their architecture; a marriage of function and form. Their grace and their endurance over the centuries. Formerly this owed much to luck, whereas now many mills survive due to the dedication of one person or a small group of volunteers. Now there seem to be more and more mills being brought back to a working condition- often at great cost. Their continued presence is desired as they occupy a poetic place in the landscape.
